Mold Inspection

Identifying and evaluating indoor environmental issues requires a keen eye and specialized equipment. When hiring a mold inspector, ensure they follow the steps outlined below.   The first step in any successful mold inspection is a complete evaluation of your indoor environment.  Though mold inspectors in the Portland area differ substantially on their methodology, the goals remain the same.  During the inspection phase, a good mold inspector will assess the following:

1.) Extent of current mold growth

mold inspection of wall area

2.) Effect of the current mold growth on the indoor air quality

Air testing for mold growth

3.)  Cause of the mold colonization

Flooding in crawl space causing mold

After completing the initial assessment, every mold inspectors job is to provide a plan of action.  Typically this includes two major components.

  1. Remediation Protocol (how to cleanup the mold problem)
  2. Mold prevention (how to ensure regrowth doesn’t occur)

Next Step — Testing
