• How long have they been in the inspection industry? The mold industry tends to attract quite a few fly by night organizations.  If a company has remained in business for 5 or more years, it is a positive indication of their professionalism.  However, this is by no means without exceptions.  There are many fraudulent companies in the industry that remain in business year after year.
• What certifications do they hold? The mold inspection industry in Portland is a completely unregulated market.  Anyone can call themselves a professional mold inspector and yet have no formal training.  Additionally, many of the certifications and training courses consists of little more than a couple of online modules.  Look for an ACAC certification, considered the most rigorous in the industry.
• Do they have proper insurance?
